A film that inhales and exhales along with the tides of the Wadden Sea as it explores the fragile relationship between man and nature.

Silence of the Tides is a cinematic tribute to the Wadden Sea,
the world’s largest, and most varied, uninterrupted intertidal area, extending along the coasts of The Netherlands, Germany and Denmark.

The film plays witness to the rough, yet fragile relationship between man and nature as it pulsates with the inhaling and exhaling of the tides. It’s a hypnotizing large screen look into the cycles and contrasts of the seasons: life and death, storm and silence, the masses and the individual. All set against a larger than life backdrop of sky, water, wind, mist and constantly changing light.

With his observational style and eye for detail, Director Pieter-Rim de Kroon presents the Wadden region as one massive, living breathing organism, where all the elements interlock, influenced by the position of the Moon and Sun, and the magical energy from the Cosmos.

THE NOLET CHRONICLES is a feature length documentary about The Nolet Distillery In Schiedam, founded in 1691. Present owner and 10^th. Generation, Carel Sr. Nolet looks back at the past, present and future of the family distillery. The film had its premiere in 2016 for a selected audience only and was produced on behalf of their 325-year anniversary in 2016.

TO BE RELEASED IN 2091 The film is transferred to 35mm analogue motion picture negative and secured in a controlled freezing system for extreme long-term conservational purposes. In the year 2091 the film will be released for an international audience on behalf of the 400-year anniversary of the Nolet Distillery.

The Incredible Story of an American Legend, Burton Holms
A golden star for Cinematography on Hollywood’s “Walk of Fame” bears the name of Burton Holms. He invented the travel film industry, coined the word “travelogue,” and raised travel documentaries to an art form. In his time, he was the world’s #1 tourist and theatrical attraction across America. Season to season, for six decades starting in the 1890’s, evening performances were black-tie affairs; tickets to his lectures then cost $1.50, when Hollywood movies cost a dime. Holmes was a true pioneer and a legend. Nowadays, he is an almost forgotten American Icon.

The documentary film, “Travelogue Man” will display, reveal and chronicle the story of Burton Holmes, the great American showman. The film will take viewers to a time before air travel, movies, radio or television, long before globalization and mass-tourism, when traveling abroad “for pleasure” was, indeed, something special.

F.I.S.H.I.N.G is both a refreshing and exceptional film dedicated to what may well be the most remarkable national sport in the Netherlands: fishing. In this 90 minutes’ documentary, the filmmakers unprejudicedly dive into an unknown world of anglers and fish. Above water and underneath it. Two parallel worlds, carefully separated by the water surface.
F.I.S.H.I.N.G is a cinematic quest for the primitive fishing instinct in mankind.

Filmed in 24 hours on board of the ‘Ni Ho De’ run by the Yamatake family in the Suruga bay and their small shop in the fishing village Heda, Japan.

For the very first time in human history a group of scientists looked at a map: the first map of our Galaxy, our Island in the Universe. These scientists were some of the top Dutch astronomers. And the map is the result of an extraordinary prediction, cutting-edge technological development and a lot of persistence. Spiral Galaxy, the Milky Way unravelled, highlights the huge contribution of Dutch scientists between 1886 and 1955 to a new view of our Universe. A view where man, Earth and Sun are no longer at the centre of everything.

Dutch Light

But the German artist Joseph Beuys suggested that it lost its extraordinary radiance after the reclamation of large parts of the Zuyder Zee in the mid-1950s. And that, he said, brought an end to a visual culture that dated back to the 17th century. According to Beuys, sight was the only sense the Dutch possessed. But by reclaiming that glittering inland sea that reflected light so beautifully they succeeded in blinding themselves.

DUTCH LIGHT breaks new ground by examining this celebrated but elusive phenomenon. Artists, art historians and scientists answer some of the questions raised by Joseph Beuys’s hypothesis and the myth of Dutch light.

What is Dutch light? Does the phenomenon of Dutch light still exist? And if it does, how does it differ from the light in the South of France, which had such a profound influence on Vincent van Gogh? Is it different from the dry light of the desert? Does it still have an impact on art today? Or does it have more to do with our powers of observation? What is fact, what is fiction and what is myth?

DUTCH LIGHT was filmed over a 12-month period on location in The Netherlands, Provence and the Painted Desert in Arizona, where the American James Turrell has spent the past 30 years creating a work of art through the medium of light in the crater of a volcano. James Turrell and Jan Andriesse, the Dutch artists Jan Dibbets and Robert Zandvliet, and art historians Ernst van de Wetering and Svetlana Alpers share their personal and often contradictory views on the subject of Dutch light. Günther Können and Vincent Icke produce scientific evidence for and against Beuys’s hypothesis.

And the camera returns, time and again, to the dike linking Marken with Monnickendam. For 12 months, it recorded the same scene, transformed by the changing light at different times of the day and in different seasons. The images are both stark and compelling. The makers of the film are optimistic about its impact: ‘If we can make people aware of light and aware of the way they look at things, we will have achieved what we set out to do’.
